Hi

will be designing new PCB, approximately 300mm square , with 30 inputs, 6 outputs, all digital

can you recommend particular type of PCB connector, to connect all peripheral I/O to limit switches etc

cost as always as strong factor

thanks

Flat cables.

But you didnt mention lots of things. Is there vibrations, maybe this will be used in some industrial machine, or switch currents, signal voltage/currents,....

all cables 0.75mm, multicore

24v dc
nominal current = mA per input

vibration = very small

single phase 230v machine (5A load through contactor)

What is distance between peripheral and main board ?

All peripherals are grouped on one place or many different ?

distance = 3 Ms typical
grouping = say 9 connectors, average 6 pins per connector

Environment is noisy and signal need to be protected from noise ?

Is there some temperature note ?

My thinking You can go with twisted pair cables as FTP cable or if you want better protection SFTP cable full square. PCB connectors can be TP shielded.
