I have a problem communicating between PC to AVR.
I got a RS485 converter that can convert from RS232 (PC) to RS485.
I can use it for PC-to-PC, but I failed using it for PC-to-AVR.
I am not sure about the sampling methodology of PC uart.
Could this be a problem since the the converter generates enable signal to the max485 that much less than the baud rate period. ?
Anyone can help?

the baut rate is not a problem, i thnk rs232 is 25 feet while the rs485 much longer distance the only thing is the rs485 is can drive long distance so there is no problem about baut rate...

I think it maybe the problem of your program about the AVR. As I know, some ICs convert RS232 to RS485 can only be

unilateralism at one time, and has an enable signal to change RX and TX. So, I think that may be the problem.
I agree with johnhenry. I think the baud rate is not a problem.
