Parallel to Serial Interface

Hi, i need some help, i have a parallel controled stepperboard for my cnc machine. But i want to use my old notebook to controlle the stepperboard and the notebook has only a serialport, is there a way to do that ?. The software i use to controlle the machine with, have setup's for both.

Hi.

First whick kind of parallel interface?

You can use a simple uc like pic or 8051 famililar to make for you
the translation from serial to parallel with a simple program.
