design compiler physical compiler

Hello,

in several places I read that for designs below 180nm physical compiler is the better tool since with design compiler the difference between pre- and post-layout timing becomes too big. unfortunately i can not find any reference for that any more. does anybode know of a good paper or SNUG article or synopsys publication i could cite for my dissertation?

any pointers are appreciated
