Forgive me for using this antique:bang:

I'm trying to customize a pad
**broken link removed**

What I did is simply placing a rectangle pad and a round pad together
**broken link removed**.

In PCB editor, it appears to be
**broken link removed**.

It looks the rectangle pad is partially covered by the top solder. Will this be a problem in production? Will I finally get a good one (1st pic) or a bad one (3rd pic)?

If this method doesn't work properly, how can I create an irregular pad?

Review the generated gerber output to answer the question yourself.

In a real world, solder mask does not overlay copper. Looks like erroneous display.

I thought up to now that any professional layout tool would allow the definition of arbitrary shaped pads (and considered Protel 99 a professional tool).
