overload vs overcurrent

Hi there,

Hope I'm not asking nonsense. Confused with this two terms. Am I right to say that "Overload" and "Overcurrent" carries the same meaning?

overcurrent vs overload

Overload is the generalized term in use for all time going back 100+ years. It can mean a load on a source that exceeds the source's power delivering capacity. It can also mean that a signal at the input of a circuit is so large in amplitude that the circuit does not function properly.

Overcurrent is a more recent term (50 years old) applied to power supply and power distribution system protective circuits.
 

overload and overcurrent

Overcurrent: It can be caused by overload, or short in the circuit itself.

Overload :It happens when we are trying to drive the system beyond its rated capability.
