OR-ing IR transmitters

I have two IR transmitters and one sensor.
Sensor allow one IR transmitter connection but I want to use two instead.
For this, is it good to do it using OR gate where output goes to sensor and through controller i decide which transmitter was on?
Need suggestion whether this scheme will help or not?
