Barrier described is an element of protection for guillotine shear. It function is to prevent putting hand under the falling blade.

How it works

To activate the blade there are two pushbuttons to be pressed in sequence. In other case blade will not work. When first pushbutton is pressed the circuit is power up and starts working. The lasers directed to photoresistors start working. These photoresistors activate relays (there are four channels). Relays create a sequence which may be broken by switching off one relay, that is by misting one of laser light beams. All active relays are shortening two leads from internal guillotine circuitry, and only then the blade can work.
Now, pressing second pushbutton we force the blade to go down. When laser beam will be broken the relay will immediately disconnect and blade movement will stop. When laser beams will reach photoresistors cutting action will continue.
