Optimum number of iterations for a cordic algorithm

Hello!
Can somebody please tell me the relation between accuracy ans number of iterations in a cordic algorithm I know more the number of iterations greater the accuracy I want to know if theres a fixed relation or just hit and trial, and also the relation between the iterations and the word length.
