Hello,

I would like to shorten the focal lens of a dielectric lens. The lens would be a multilayer structure. say 5 layers each with its own thickness radius and dielectric constant. Have an incident plane wave from the +z direction and looking at the field on the -z axis.
BY changing the variables, a peak would occur somewhere on the -z axis.
The goal function would be the location of this peak. The Optimization goal would be to minimize this distance between the peak of the field and the edge of the lens (minimization of the focal lens)
I am not sure how to do this in HFSS.
Maybe this is possible using the fields calculator? Anybody has any experience using it?
Also would it be possible to define the goal function in matlab (or an internal script) and have the HFSS optimizer call it?

Thank you
