Hello,
As our final year under graduate research, we have to design a law cost, non contact high voltage detector. This is requirement of the Electricity board of our country. first thing is we have to design it to mount on a DDLO rod. At the second step we have to design it to mount in the safety helmet. If you have any idea on this please reply me. (i.e what kind of IC should i use. and etc..)

up to now decide to test the magnetic fields and electric fields around the distribution and transmission overhead lines.

Thank you.

DDLO ROD

As you are detecting high voltage, you'll want to measure electrical not magnetical field, I presume. I also guess that the measurement can be restricted to low frequent AC fields?

As a starting point, you calculate field strength numbers for intended sensitivity.

Thank you for reply. i think you are correct. we have a problem if we use magnetic field. i.e if the power line in no load mode, there is no current. therefore no magnetic field. but the voltage not zero.
again thanks for idea.

Do you know any sensor which can sense electric field. Please reply as soon as possible.

thank you.

Simply an electrode connected to a sensitive current sense amplifier (I/V-converter, transimpedance converter).
