while I am not a user of Linux or fedora,
i feel whether it is suggesting you to do this as administrator username and password?
if you have no other user on your Linux pc/laptop?

I haven't used debian or Redhat. But in the case of Ubuntu you don't need any additional application to connect to the internet using mobile phone. Just plug in the mobile in Nokia Mode and you can configure a connection for your network.
