Noise Figure of Transistors

Hi everybody,

I am trying to do the Noise analysis on the transistor amplifier with active load on the CS configuration. It gives a Noise Figure of 8 to 9 dB Noise Figure on .18 u M technology when done with Noise analysis on ic5.0. I have no sufficient data to compare this result with any other. Can any body tell me about the correctness of the result??

Similarly I tried to find the Flicker Noise that is generated through Noise summmary. But it shows 0 Flicker Noise. I tried to find the Flicker Noise parameters
in the model Library file but it does not have any of the NOIA, NOIB and NOIC. Can anybody give me the typical values of these parameters for a TSMC .18u M process???
 

What is the frequency at which you are looking at this Noise Figure?
 

LNA's (CS) generally have a noise figure of 2-3dB, even Common Gate LNA's have a Noise figure of 5dB, 9dB seems a huge number to me. At 2GHz I don't think you should bother about flicker noise.

The following mixer analysis I nieed the Flicker Noise Analysis , which is direct (with out or Zero IF) down conversion mixer. Can you suggest any errors tht I might be doing in Noise analysis?
 

What is the gain of your LNA? If you tune your LNA gain down too much, the NF can go up a lot. Also, you may need to check the noise model of the transistor.
