Cust has given us a not-working 500W PFC-FullBridge to get working.
They used two stacked HS-106160-2 torroids with 41 turns for PFC inductor.
Spec for PFC is 115vac, 60Hz, 220vout, 120khz, 550W
I find far less core loss is begotten when using the "same-size" MP-106169-2 or the MS-106160-2 torroids, and a more suitable inductance. (just different no of turns)
So why didnt the engineer use these better (for this application) torroids?
Are they more expensive?

Thanks, and given the pricing factor now so evident.....we will all agree that there would be no reason to use a HF core instead of a MS core for a PFC application?
This shows that an engineer must be across world nickel pricing in order to buy the right components. The attached shows that the Nickel price is on a steady increase.....this shows that boost PFCs will have to start using micrometals sendust, which contains less nickel than the other torroids.
Do you know of any other core materials that dont contain so much nickel?
This is bad news for common mode emc, where NiZn torroids are essential to be used, as MnZn torroids dont work at the high frequencies above 1MHz.
The rise in nickel price is doubtless due to its use in EV batteries......so this situation is going to get much much worse.
