hi ;

i am using 8* 1.2 V NI-CD chargable battery , i want to monitor battery level on LCD , i am using an ADC to convert battery voltage to digital , now i want to know what range of voltage is recommanded and standard for these four levels :
1=high
2=good
3=low
4=too low
for example 10.5V-11V is high , 10V-10.5 is good and ... ( just example , i need to know the standard voltage range )

thanks ,

You can consider 1,4-1,5 v/cell as fully charged, 1,2v/cell as a good value, 1,05-1,1v/cell as low and at 1,0v/cell or under, you should shut down your circuits.

Ti have special NI_CD charge controling chip ,it have more application note is very useful for you

I'm agree with pisoiu.
The nominal voltage of the single cell is 1.2V but depending on what kind
of charging method you use this voltage can rech the value of 1.4-1.5V.
You should control that the voltage of the battery pack doesn't fall under 1V per cell.
For example you could indicate a "LOW BATTERY" message when the voltage is 1,05-1,1v/cell and than power off your instrument after some minutes if your system has an Auto Power Off System.

Best Regard
