Newbie to microcontroller programming

Hi, I have recently started with the microcontroller programming using Atmega 8515 utilizing ICC7AVR compiler. Can anybody guide me to simple programs in c language. Will be most helpful.

look on the example code in your "getting started guide"

you wont find much source on the web..........its always hard to find good working source in c or assembelre

Tried that but it is either c or the descritption of the controller. scarcely have i found a project designed in c actually implemented. C is not the problem. Implementing it on the controller is. I even tried AVR Freaks but the projects there are not for introductory level guys. Plus all that is available on net is in assembler. So am stuck.

Why cant u start with AVR GCC it is a freeware and it has lot of tutorials
