In a blue sky conversation I had with a colleague 2 ideas were presented to solve a hypothetical problem: The first idea was an idea for an Electro Hydrodynamic Engine that can move air, the second a different type of Electric motor.
This thread is written to determine if the second idea is possible and if it has ever been attempted.
A motor in which the shaft acts as by tapping the force of the electron movement in the same way that a rail gun works. This is done with an array of sensors corresponding to various voltage sources at different locations along the shaft.
Can current and voltage themselves drive a motor?
 

If the voltage source is electrostatic in 10's of kV, and motor torque is proportional to current, there will not be much conventional motor power at low voltage high current.

Perhaps you are thinking of a linear EM motor used for high speed transport with levitation.
