It's almost copy of old legendary Zg 15-c that were added to zodiak radio. This couple were stock at garage. Of course foam at upper suspension was broken so low tones were almost death. I was go for the! After i had regenerate columns i got shock, the sound is really good! I work with sound since many years so you must believe me.
Technical details:
Bass section - Tonsil GDN 16/15/8
High tones Tonsil GDW 9/15/8/2 connect as in original via 1,5 condenser
Casing closed type ~9 and soundproof at each wall ( except front) by sponge 3cm.
Casing made up of particle board 18mm, screws in every 5-10cm and gule. Finish in spatula, next sand, and coverd by veneer. Stained at lacquer 3 times. Clamp terminals, inside column I used 2x1,5mm cables.
Columns powered by amplituner Unitra Tosca 303. I still have got zodiak but one channel is broken, so far cause i'm going to repair it.
Speaker columns I've made for my own satisfaction. Firstly i had wanted to use them for home-cinema, that i'm going to make by myself, but finally i've gave them my girlfriend. ( I already have bought new zg 15-c and production is on the way.
First time i have veneer with butapren glue. It's a wenge veneer - very tought , very slimsy. Hard to cut it by paper-knife cause that wood is make up with hard long pins. Knife fall between them and it's hard to make angle - cut. Butapren glue has specific smell - i got high.. After I had lacquer it, veneer shrinked, and at connection point diverged. It doesn't look good! I tried to abrade all lacquer, put new spatula and lacquered it again, but spatula crumbled again. I gave up. I went to shop and bought veneer that don’t shrink.
Cupolas I’ve glued in reverse mode – it looks interesting, besides I fought that there will be more middle tones ( trumpet like in GDS) To be honest I’m not sure is it works.
