i want to get a negative supply from a positive.below circuit fails when i connect the output to an opamp.why could it be? anyone having an opinion, a suggestion? thanx...

First of all, check that the opamp does not actually short or overload the negative rail. Check there is no mistake in the wiring.

Also, do you have good decoupling on the 555?

Other than, that, the circuit should work.
