Pins 15 and 16 are usually used for LED backlight - if present, else it is not used.
well it seems tat u r not worried abt the 1 - 14 pin, connect them as usual, pin 15 and 16 is for the baklit light of the lcd, connect 15 to ground and 16 to the 5 V for the baklit
Most backlights are designed to be used with a transistor switch , and don't like more that 4.2..4.3v
Either use a Resistor to 5v . or a diode (remember current might be like 300ma , so use a suitable diode)
