hey!
I need a powerful and efficient amplifier circuit with the least noise possible that has to work with a very small input signal! Any ideas?
Regards, Cecemel:grin:

Audio amp or RF amp or.....?
How much output power?
Into what load impedance?
Can you be a bit more specific than "very small input signal".

want to use it for boosting my walkie-talkie range

Audio amp or RF amp or.....?=what is an rf amp?
How much output power=Doesn't matters too much, just so i have a range of about 50km (30 miles)
Into what load impedance?= What do you mean? (i'am a beginner)
very small input=output from a walkie-talkie antenna
thanks!:-D

Your radio is probably VHF or UHF, and 50km with any kind of reliability is not a realistic goal for a portable radio at those frequencies (Apart from anything else you pretty much need line of sight between the aerials), also VHF & UHF amplifiers are in no way beginners projects, certainally not at the power level you would need.

The usual way to make handheld radios work over greater distances is to place repeater stations in high places so the handheld radio only needs to connect to the repeater, but that technology gives even seasoned engineers headaches.

Sorry, but this is not a beginners project.

Regards, Dan.

Depends on what frequency and what licenses he has surely.
I have a homebrew 100W amp in the car that plugs into the aerial socket on my 2M HT, nothing illegal about it.

73 M0HCN.

A walkie talkie was a child's toy. They had very low power since I think their range was only across the street and they operated at 27MHz.
I have a pair of FRS radio communicators. Them and the higher power GMRS radio communicators are walkie talkies for adults. They are powerful, have very far range, have many channels and a licence is not needed.
