Need help in using Java J2SE for reading system information

Need help in Java J2SE

Hi all,

Can anyone provide me some information or link,,
as to how to do following in java

1. Read system information, such as processor type, hard-drives , etc
2. Obtain memory information

Is there any specific API for this or is it a part of a systems method ??

Help would be appreciated

As workaround, you can use Java native interface to implement your own class + platform dependent code but it has to be supplied together with your Java bins .
