Hi
I am repairing a psu, and there is a capacitor in the output stage which I am trying to find.
Written over it is
IC 3.3K1000MWR
Googling,i found its from Illinois capacitors.but I am not able to find similar part no in their list.
Can someone explain what the nomenclature means and which is the exact part no?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Hello,

It looks like a special or old version of these capacitors:
https://www.illinoiscapacitor.com/pdf/seriesDocuments/MWR series.pdf
It is a metallized polyester capacitor. Probably with capacitance 3.3 uF and rated at 1000 VDC.
To check if this is correct:
1) Check capacitor volume and see if it is similar to this one https://www.illinoiscapacitor.com/ic_search/film_products_detail.aspx?icpartnumber=13350
I know it is not a very scientific method for comparisson but capacitor volumes should be similar with same technology, manufacturer, rated votlages and capacitances.
2) Check capacitance using a multimeter
Good luck!

Hello

Thanks for replying

The links you gave me are the std one's on their webpage.
The size which i have is quite large, no where comparable to one's they show.

The other link you gave was of an MTR capacitor whereas the one which i have is MWR series.

Best regards

If you want exactly the same part I think that the best option would be contacting Illinois Capacitor. This may be a non-standard product or a special series.
