I have One Solar panel which ratings are -- Rated power = 5W , Rated voltage = 17V , Rated Current = 0.29A, Open Circuit Voltage = 21.6V
Short Circuit Current = 0.34A and want the circuit for Recharging a 12v or 6volts Rechargeable battery for arduino uno board. Please tell me some Circuit ideas. Thanks.

Sir I want the circuit for 12v 5 ah lead acid battery can this circuit support it?

yes this is what exactly this circuit does ! . i used it for a solar charger for a battery operated fan which contains a 12v 4.5A battery .

any way as you can see this circuit is in proteus try it and simulate it and see by your self!

i hope that helped you and saved your time ! i spent some time when i had that project :)

Thanks, I will Try and post .

One thing i missed is , What is about Full Charge condition of Battery ? Means when battery charging is complete the charging current need to be drop .. Please give some information about this. Thanks.

if your battery is 5Ah , then the maximum charging current is about 1-2A ,for lead acid.

when the battery is full the charging current drop to about 100mA or less , is this case the battery is cosidered as full .

offcourse charging voltage is 14-14.5 for Lead acid 12v battery . if the battery is Gel lead acid the charging voltage is about 13.5-14 . this can be adjusted along with the charging current in the cirucit by varing the resistance.

hope that helps ....

4,5Ah-5Ah is smaller lead acid and acording to many datasheets charging current should not be higher. I think 1-2A is to high for these batteries.

7,2Ah have max charging current of 0,7A.

Also voltage of 14,2-14,4V is used in cycled charging. Cycle charge is used when battery is discharged below 50-40%, when battery is full this voltage should be maximum at float voltage.

If charger cant manage with output voltage, better set float voltage between 13,5V and 13,8V depending from ambient temperature.

Check manufacturer datasheet for battery and use this document as reference.

You can boost the current with a Buck DC-DC down converter . If converting 17 to 6V, I might expect 250% increase in current at 85% efficiency.
using a 5Ah battery @ 0.29A would take >>18 hrs. at full sun so your charger is weak with a linear design.
