Need a way to control a stepped motor

hi...can someone help me im looking for a h-brigde diagram to control a stepped motor I was looking for tha l293 but it seem that it is unavailable in my city orI dont know what happen, I have the LMD1820 but i dont know who to use it..... or can I control it with a pic16f84?? thanks

Why do you need an h-bridge for a stepper motor ??!
An h-bridge would be more useful if you're working with a DC motor not a stepper.

A stepper motor needs a stepping sequence, which you could easily generate using your PIC.
All you would need here is a buffer such as the ULN2003 to avoid buring out the controller.

I have done the same for avr microcontroller. Only bipolar stepper motors can be drived using L293D , if it is unipolar then go for uln2003. See the ratings of the motor. If it is greater than .6A go for L298 Circuit and is available in this book

Hi, you can use the MC3479P (stepper motor controler by motorola, only need pulses and direccion. have a temperature limiter and short circuit protection) or use the L293 or L298, i use this chip to development mi produts and work very well. (www.dland.com.ar)
if you can't seel this chips can use mosfet or fet, 2 per channel (channel p and N)
this metod is used inside the chip before related.

i controlled a stepper motor with a l293d and gave sequence with atmega16(u can use any µc) download datasheet for l293d and in it applications are given for stepper motor control.you have to read the data sheet to learn ,its the best way beleive me it will help you in a better way.

I used L297 and L298 to control a stepper motor.
Even if you need a half-bridge, you can use just one half of L298.
