Idea of making “tuning” commodore appears when I try to use emulators for c64 games. Playing thanks to them is not the same as playing on real commodore. First problem was – how to transfer a lot of data into c64, I was thinking about buying cassette recorder and cartridges ( but I was too lazy to record games at tapes), better solution was XE1541 cable, that connect 154 1II port with pc and copying games into 3 disks that I had ( although that also had bad sides because at one disk I can put one bigger game so if I’ve had 3 it would have been a mistake).
So I started to surf through the internet, looking for construction that could hold a lot of data. One was really interesting – mmc2iec at ATMEGA 644. Device work with D.64, PRG, P00 files and more. It doesn’t need a lot of current and might be powered by cassette recorder plug, signal cables goes from serial port, as you can see at my project power cables and signal cables are solder to port pines, to mmc2iec I made smaller board, add some SMD parts and without any problems placed underneath keyboard, only think was to cut hole on side. Mmc2iec have one bad side – it doesn’t work with fastloaders, so some games doesn’t work, but rest works perfect.
Kernal Rom – original chip have been removed, instead of it there is EPROM 2C7256 with two ROM:
-BASIC ROM that have sentimental meaning 
- EXOS V3 that is great acceleration MMC2IEC, thanks to that game loading is about 6 seconds. Ofcourse acceleration is also thanks to JiffyDOS, Action Replay cartridge, Final Cartridge III. In Exos I add commends like OPEN1,8,15”CD: I “CLOSE15 under shortcuts.
Swinsid- emulator of real SID. My original SID was brokesn. I had problem with software because instead TDA 1543 transducer I have 1543A. It’s a mono version, but there is also version with SID and two ATMEG’s that’s stereo.
From the right side :
Reset mmc2iec
Disk – change disk to lower
Blue and green LED – mmc2iec signal
Disk + change to higher
Soft reset – cause c64 reset without power stop
2 level switcher, connect with Kernal Rom to change Exos V3 to basic
Power diode – special super bright
CINCH slots – better video and audio signal than original aerial cable
