multistage wilkinsons

Hi,

I am designing 3 stage micrpstrip wilkinson power divider from 2-6 GHz using quater waveform technique. I calulated the impedences from POzar book. Now I want to convert the impedences into strip lengths. so for strip length caluculations whether I have to use same frequency for different stages?
Is there any design paper for multi stage wilkinson power divider?

multistage wilkinson

I don't know of a good design paper off the top of my head, but the frequecy of each resonator will be the same. That frequency will be 4GHz. The multistage design will give you wider band width. It is similar to filter design.

The problem you will run into in this design is the resistive load. Even if you use a small resistor it will have shunt caps due to the SMT pads and series inductance of the resistor. This will impact the port isolation, you will need accurate characterization of this in order to design for optimal isolation. Also, you will have to make the MS lines Tee off from the input, then merge together at the isolation resistors, this means bends and coupling which will be a function of the laminate. There are many tradeoffs going from ideal simulation to design.

Good luck
