microcontrollers

Hi everyone,

last week, I had to resolve some questions about digital electronics.
One of them was:

The cache in a µcontroller is implemented in
a) Static Ram
b) Dynamic Ram
c) Registers
d) ROM
e) PROM

For me, it's clear that the answer is a) or c) but which one is correct ?
I'm very curious.

Hi,

I may be wrong but it seems to me that register are High Speed Static RAM.

That 's my answer.

Hope it helps

That is what I thougt too.
Maybe the question was a trap.

i think static ram ,
register is very fast ram which usually implement in microprocessor/microcontroller and register is not static ram.

But at now static ram speed definition can't compete the L1-Cache in Pentium IV but almost equal with L2-Cache.

Cache is not so popular in microcontrollers. by the way some of them have registers for data caching
