Mtech thesis topic suggestion.

Being a student of vlsi how can i contribute to weather forcasting. specially while designing a processor for weather forcasting.
 

Weather forcasters forget to phone where the wind is blowing from to find out if it is raining or not there, then it soon will also be raining here. So Instead I think they just flip a coin and make a guess.
Will you design a processor to make the phone call or to guess?
 

Forecasting involves a great deal of complex modelling and high level 3D computations with massive computing power and not suitable for VLSI.... Unless you just use barometric pressure to predict bad weather.

Were you thinking of fabricating an IC for an individual weather station? Usually they display temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, min/max of all readings, trend up/down. Add an outdoor temp sensor which sends its reading to the indoor unit.

2.

There are internet-connected systems that receive weather forecasts from a central office. (For instance I have one called Weather Direct).

3.

There is large-scale forecasting where the weather service gathers data from many scattered sources, puts it into a simulation program, and observes how the present patterns 'morph' into a future scenario. I believe the software has the featured role in this scale of forecasting, rather than any particular IC.

Can you suggest me something that can be done as my mtech thesis on a FPGA board.Related to weather forecasting.
 

The stand-alone weather station could be a useful project. However I'm not sure there are inexpensive electronic barometric sensors. To omit a barometer would be a loss, since it is a practical forecasting device.

Something that would be valuable is to know whether rain is approaching your area (within a few miles radius). Weather radar maps (as seen on the internet) are excellent for this. People with iPads/ smartphones can get such graphics information (I think) via cell internet.

But what if we are traveling, and only have a cell phone?

Suppose you could find a way to access weather radar information from some service, then display a message 'clear skies', or 'rain approaching, 30 minutes'? That would be a big help for us to decide whether to go to an outdoor game or an indoor mall. Your device would need to extract this information based on someone's location (or nearby cell tower).

It could take some effort to locate such a service, if it exists.
 

is it possible to implement artificial neural network in FPGA?
 

can i implement a algorithm on FPGA that performs differential of a equation as my mtech thesis.
