moving plate by motor

Dear friends

I want to make a robot with a moving plate.
this moving plate is fixed in front of car, what i want to know how to connect the motor to it to be stable and free to move.

I suggest you to mount the moving plate on a C rail **broken link removed**

.. then you can move it using a stepper motor and a screw rod..
