Hi Guys,

I am a new bee to SONET and OTN technology. I am facing a tough time to understand why exactly both of these technologies were refereed to as Layer 1 technology. What exactly Layer 1, Layer 2 & Layer 3 technology means and does it maps to OSI layer or TCP/IP layer anyways?

Thanks
