What I need:
This may be a fairly easy project for a student or hobbyist looking for some extra cash this holiday season. I am looking to commission someone to build a professional looking and operating (PCB) printed circuit board, provide a “blueprint/ diagram” of the board, and a component source list with pricing.

Payment / Delivery:
My budget is $50-125, depending on your final product. If awarded the task, I will pay you $50 for your efforts no matter what, with a possible $75 extra depending on your final product. Unless the completed project is deemed grossly unacceptable, you will earn the full extra $75. Payment will be made through PayPal upon arrival of your package. If you’d like, I can pay you for the necessary parts up front if you provide me with the parts list with sources and pricing. This amount will be deducted from the initial $50 you will receive. However you can still receive the $75 bonus depending on final product. Your final product should ship within 10 days of project acceptance.

Overview:
Circuit board whose intention will keep an 11” x 11” x 3.5” steel box at or around a temperature of (99ºF +/- 2%). Installation environment of the PCB will be inside an 18ga. steel box – screwed onto metal or plastic standoffs. Safety around humans and animals is a concern, which is why I would like to use AC to DC adaptor operating at a lower voltage/amperage. I am aware that you are the one with the knowledge of electronics, so if you have any suggestions or recommendations, it would be welcomed.

Component/Functions:
1. PCB size shall not exceed a size of 3” x 4” x any thickness.
2. Switch/sensor that will automatically turn OFF heater when it reaches upper temp limit.
3. Switch/sensor that will automatically turn ON heater when it falls below lower temp limit.
4. 6” long leads with an attached 2” or 3” fan.
5. 6” long leads with an attached red LED that will be recessed into the box’s cover.
6. 6” long leads with an attached black plastic toggle switch. Switching this on will turn on the fan, LED, and heater.
7. 6” long leads with an attached black plastic push-button timed switch. Attached to this will be a timed heat feature (possibly with a second heater, or maybe just one more powerful heater?) that will quickly bring the box up to temperature within 15min, and then turn off automatically. The switch and push-button can operate in conjunction, but should also be able to operate independently from one another.
8. The temp sensor(s) may need to be at the opposite end of the board that the heater(s) are located in order to minimize sensors from prematurely turning off without heating the entire box to desired temperature. This may not be completely necessary because the fan will help disperse the heat.
9. Box will use an AC to DC power adaptor switching from 110VAC to 12VDC- 1A or 24VDC- 6A. (May need your recommendation on this)

Looks do count- please don’t submit a grease-smudged circuit board with sloppy solder, or hand-written diagram on a cocktail napkin. Digital files are a plus but not absolutely necessary. I primarily use a Mac Pro computer, and have the capability of opening any Adobe program, as well as Solidworks files on my PC. If you are aware of a digital format that industry professionals use, than that would be the best, and I will find someone who can open the file for me.

Wrap Up:
I don’t mind paying a fair price for this first prototype board, however my intentions are to put this board into a production environment in the future- so keeping the actual production board cost as low as possible is a consideration. All components should be off-the-shelf. I encourage you to contact me with questions about my project. If in doubt, just email me and hopefully I can convey my intentions. Some aspects of the project may be expendable or flexible.

I am an honest, hardworking recent college grad, whose main job is in an unrelated field to this project. I am doing this in an attempt to make extra cash down the road if this project ever pans out for me.

I hope the moderators of this forum do not approve of turning this place into a venue for cheap skates looking to have professional work done for them like
so many freelancer web sites where for for example asking for construction of alibaba or ebay look-a-like web sites for $100 or less.

Looks like you need some standard thermostat control, you should search what is available and make it to fit. I recall there are many project kits that
feature temperature control, and other free circuits.
Anyway, how about you search those things out, buy an applicable item, get it built and add up the number of hours it takes you, and cost yourself an hourly rate........now ask are you
even remotely asking a fair rate for professional work from somebody else?:evil:

thanks for the info xaccto. I'm just looking to get a PCB made. Like I said, I have a full time job in an unrelated field. I also have a part time job, and college classes. I don't have the time, nor the knowledge of building one myself. I was hoping this would be a forum that would offer judgement-free solutions. If someone is genuinely interested in making money by means of their hobby, I see no problem with that, and was hoping that others wouldn't either. Furthermore, if someone was willing to tackle the project, but thought my asking price was too low, they could simply negotiate. Way to put down a guy tho.

When I read this the very first impression I got is been ripped off by you, You want some one to design and source the parts list as well as design and make the PCb and build one and persume test it for $50-150. I totally agree with xaccto
This part made me laugh
I/someone design the PCB you buy some parts up front so if the parts cost $40 I/someone only get paid $10 :shock: You could also say sorry you did not do a good job so you don't get the bonus of $75 even though the PCB/build is 100%. Your having a luagh, Look at it another way your offering to pay $50-125 depending on the qualitity fo the build. So would you pay that person $150 up front before anything was designed and expect that person to give you a refund if your not happy with it.

I'd steer well clear of this. There is lots to think about if you want to take it to production EMC,CE requirements and more, Designing something is not just the case of throwing it together this could take 1 week to 6months may be even longer depending on the complex of the design, I'd say you'd be looking at may be upto $1500 for the design. We are here to help you make 2 post's and you said "I was hoping this would be a forum that would offer judgement-free solutions" We can offer plenty why not do most of the work yourself like desgin get a working proto-type draw up a schematic layout the PCB. If you get stuck then ask questions here. I've seen these scams so many times before people do all the hard work and don't get paid the full amout the was this documentery I seen the once someone wanted a simular thing doing but this was just to build the units the company shipped out all the parts,PCB'S and that and people just built the PCB'S up. and geuss what they did not get what they said there was becasue the work was not upto standard. So they got investigated one PCB was built and soldered by a machine(so no errors could be made) then the second one was built by someone who has done it for years and geuss what they only got paid half the amount they should off.

Sorry don't mean to offend you but I'm most likey not the only pesron thinking like this, The world we live in today is full of fraud and scams people making money where they can. I may have miss understood what exactly your after but it's what's been said. May be if you had been on this forum for a few years and made more post then people may have looked at it differently.
Don't mean to start a war but I speak my mind the way I see it and yes sometimes gets me into trouble :grin:

Getting a simple PCB made would cost at least $100 just for the board house and 40 hours of work making footprints, laying out the board and checking everything. You will need an electronic sensor with some smarts to hold the temp that accurately. Most of us would prototype the circuit first so you don't have many mistakes in the design.

Now what would you charge someone if you were doing that project for them?

I'm not trying to scam anyone. Just a dreamer on a budget I guess. It is my first post on here, like it is on other forums that I'm seeking assistance in this project. I have limited knowledge of electronics, so there has never been a desire to post on here. Do you have multiple posts on a video game, or automotive forums? Probably not- you gotta start somewhere. Like I said, I'm looking for a hobbyist or student perhaps that can tackle the task, keep my cost low, and make themselves some money, . I've never commissioned work via forum before, so I'm open to negotiation in terms of compensation, time frame, and up-front payment. Based on some of the posts I've read in here, I wasn't thinking this would be that complicated to necessitate 40 hours of work. OUCH!

I appreciate the advice on the temp range DeLorean. Obviously I don't have much experience in the field, so I just kind of pulled this range from thin air. Sounds like a temp range of maybe 20% would be more reasonable.

So if a PCB is going to cost $100, what would one charge to make this on a breadboard? Without 6 months of testing.

I'm looking to redesign this circuit to beef it up a bit.
 

With your relaxed specification, you may be able to find someone to help you. I would just run a little micro-processor fan continuously to keep the inside of your box constant throughout. If you have an existing circuit why don't you just try it in the box but buy a smaller fan.
 

I can also wash your clothes for a smal tip of 2$ more pppppppppppp
