find the base of the number?
24+17=40

i did as 2*b+4+b+7=4*b

then i got answer as 11

if i add that i.e 40=41
4*b=4*b +1

then i am not getting answer why?

Because you calculated it wrong. The base is 11 so...

(2*11 + 4) + (1*11 + 7) = 4*11

so the decimal (base 10) value of left and right sides:
44 = 44

Since 11 = 10 base 11 You should then get in base11: 20 + 10 +(4+7) = 20 + 10 + 10 =40.
