heres a scheme i use to drive motors... it uses descrete components... and uses N-ch Mosfets because P-channels cost more than N-channels...

another crude scheme... but it works....

and here is the protector for output:

operation :

InA=0 InB=0 X=0 Y=0
InA=1 InB=0 X=1 Y=0
InA=0 InB=1 X=0 Y=1
InA=1 InB=1 X=0 Y=0

without this "guard" to the input, a 1,1 on the inputs would SMOKE your MOSFETS...

chip used: C4069 hex inveter
C4011 NAND gate
