most power effecient modulation?

i am making a transceiver, and obviously it should be low power. can anyone help me as to what is the most power effecient type of modulation? thanks Ü

u can use any kind of orthogonal signaling.they are power efficient but not bandwidth efficient.and note that for better power consumption use increase the number of symbols you use.

Hi,

One candidate for an efficient modulation scheme is "Quadrature Amplitude Modulation" known as QAM. But power efficiency depends upon number of symbols e.g. u can use 8 QAM, 16 QAM, ... , and so on.

MFSK trades bandwidth for lower power. 16FSK is used by hams on HF.

Orthogonal modulation, e.g. FSK, Walsh-spread modulation, etc.

Look at the Pe~EbN0 curve (refer to J.Proakis's classic book), the larger the curve shift to the left (means smaller Eb is needed), the more power efficient.

Orthogonal modulation is known to achieve Shannon limit. But the downside is it needs large bandwidth.
