Monitoring nonrechargeable batteries

Hi all!

I would like to share a doubt with you. Is monitoring a pack of non rechargeable batteries worth? Would it be necessary a specific chip like the battery fuel gauges of TI or, for this particular case, just monitoring the pack voltage with the ADC of a uC?

it would be necessary for monitoring a non rechargable battery if the load connected is too costly or the load is a microcontroller or high power motors..
else if the non rechargable battery is connected to wall clock or such simple loads monitoing is not needed...
so please specify what is the load for the battery that cannot be measures..
i have a simple circuit for making the analog voltage appear is a set of leds to indicate voltage level.

Generally, there is no IC in nonrechargeable batteries.
