Speakers:
Gdn 22-140-8 scx, gdm 14-150-8 scx, gdwk 10-250-8 akx
Assumptions:
Columns with amplifier should work as a alternative system for creative speakers. Important was to get cheap price. I choose stx as they have large GDN. Modification was to exchange PJ for Akx. I need to use -4dB silencer for multitones.
Casing and silencer:
I used particle board 18mm. Firstly I wanted to put 19mm MDF as a front panel, but I couldn’t find at shop. Under the speakers I made “false cutter” – I put 3mm HDF board with holes for speakers. Place for GDN I made by knife.
Middletones speaker at one of the columns is not put to the end yet. Box for GDN doesn’t consist any silence proof layer. Capacity of it is 33L – a little bit smaller than original, because of polystyrene wedge. The same with other boxes – firstly it was 12 liters, now about 5. GDM consist special silent layer- a blanket that is tight to the walls besides all capacity is filled by sheep wool. My experience shows that this is almost perfect silence layer. A chamber for GDN is reinforced by special bars.
Tuning:
I tested at a lot of songs at 32 position equalizer, to find which kind of bass they can play. After some tries I decided to use 22cm length tunnel. It’s a lot for this GDN so I can’t recommend that for power fans. With current settings, on 55W stereo Freekey Zekey - Hater What You Lookin' At plays very low acoustic pressure, without any bass errors. Explosion sound from latest Rambo couse that room is shacking.
