The original thermostat of the kettle was damaged and there was no point to buy a new one because it turned out to be too expensive. That is why this device was designed. The new thermostat was built on microcontroller with temperature display and what is the most important – it is much cheaper than the new one.
Everything was programmed in BASCOM. How does it detect boiling water? It was realized by testing the increase of the temperature above the value of 90 degrees Celsius. If the temperature does not increase in a specific rate, the heater turns off. The rate of increase also depends on the amount of water and was tested at a temperature below 85 degrees Celsius.

Elements used:
  • Atmega8
  • DS18B20
  • relay
  • transformer
