Micrel KSZ8001 enthernet chip interfacing

Hi,
i am working on an ARM7 based mother borad design which contains peripherals like,RS232, RS485, USB, .....and Ehternet. My board is working fine except ethernet part. I am using Micrel KSZ8001 ehternet chip(10/100base). This is the first time i have been working on ethernet. I believe i am skipping some funadametal thing in driver coding. The problem now, its identifying the chip as micrel, but nothing more!!! when i give software reset the chip is getting heated up...
Someone plsease help me in this regard.
