Metal enclosure & offline SMPS? (Radiated emissions)

This relates to this thread...

..Easy Peasy kindly appears, (dont know if i am right?) to agree that hard switched offline SMPS cannot pass radiated emissions if in a non-metal enclosure?
The thing is, supposing the metal enclosure doesnt cover the entire SMPS, (ie it has gaps in it), then can it not pass radiated emissions then?.....presumably the gaps can be as big as....
lambda = v/f
Where v = 3e8
and f = 1000MHz

But 3e8/1e9 is 30 centi-metres.........so that would mean massive gaps would be ok?
....But our enclosure is only some 130mm by 70mm by 35mm ??
