Does the Cadence Allegro tool have a Mentor PCB Expedition translator? We're trying to create an Allegro database from Mentor Expedition.

Hi,

Did you have any answer on this?? Did you find a way to translate from Expedition to Cadence?

I understand your problem and I sympathise.....sorry I don't know the answer...it is infuriating that people are having the problems that you are having.......it should be a requirement of every pcb package that they can all be converted from/to a single chosen pcb layout package....say altium.

It is simply not acceptable that people are having the problems that you are having.

No, I didn't receive an answer on this. We ended up paying an outside services company, who developed a translator, to do this. The translation turned out well and we moved on to completing the design. My understanding is these EDA companies do not want to be in the business of developing and maintaining translators for there tools. There is an inherent cost to them to keep these up to date. IMHO, having a translator for your tool is a great marketing point when trying to sell into a company already established with another tool.
