Hi there everyone! I took apart an Alphasmart Pro today and found a 40 x 4 LCD display (Free, I might add, this is the school's junk). I can't get a pinout for the darn thing! The board is a OPTREX DMC40401, which has no datasheets on the internet available. However, it has a marking labeled MDK52V-0, and has two M50524FP's and a M50530 on it. I found datasheets for the controllers, but not the entire thing put together! It has an 8 x 2 pin connecter on it (for a grand total of 16 pins).

If anyone could help, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

Anyone else who ever needs this info, after a lot more googling, I found the answer:

Pin 1 is in the upper left corner, when looking at the screen (make sure that the arrow that says UP is pointing up).

1-8) Data Pin 0-7
9) EX (instruction start) 10) R/W (Read / Write signal)
11) C1 (Start instruction signal 1) 12) C2 (Start instruction signal 2)
13) VHH (Power supply for LCD driver) 14) Vss (Ground)
15) Vcc (5V power supply) 16) NC (No connection)
17) K (optional, Backlight LED cathode) 18) A (optional, Backlight LED anode)

Now then, to figure out what any of that really means.

I hope this helps anyone who ever stumbles upon this needing the same info I did! If I helped you, remember to hit the Thank You button!
