i want to calculate determinant of a matrix.but determinant is defined only for square matrix,but mine is a rectangular matrix.. so anybody please suggest me any method for converting a rectangular matrix to a square one in MATLAB...

any suggestion is highly appreciated..

you can only delete or average some rows and columns. any conversion means loss data.
