dspic matlab

Hi.
I have to realise HW controller for AC machine using dsPIC30Fxxxx DSC.
Connection with PC would be by USB. I have to use USB UART chip FT232BL
(serial, 1,875Mbaud at 30MIPS) for as interface between DSC and PC.
Matlab would be used as debbuging tool in order to speed and simplfy C code
development.

I do not know how much spped I need within USB communication in order to manage this task in
real-time. Let me know please. I cannot use USB FIFO (parallel, full usb speed) because I do not have enough free pins at DSC.

Suggest some literature for this kind of problem also for Matlab tool.
I've never worked with this kind of problems.
Thanks.
Regards.
