mapping out a circuit

has any one got any good tips on how i may map out a circuit board.
in order to gain an understanding of the circuits operation i need to
disassemble the board.
any ideas greatly apprecieated.
 

Are you finding a reverse engineering procedure? Sorry for my question but I don't understand map out (I'm speak portuguese). You have in mind the basic configurations of some topics in electronics, simulate some of them, find the strangers components and understand what they do .... is a difficult work ... because some components seems unnecessary at first time, but do the difference when scheme as running ... sometimes only the designer can explain the reason of the component
 

yes,how would one approach this method.
would there be any books or literature on this.
