I have a machine that uses a manual pulse generator to show numbers on a segment display unit (XDS-2B). The main function is for Vertical Feed (Servo Controlled Up and Down movement) and works with the help of a Selector Switch (SA2) which has functions such as Rapid Feed, 1/Rev Pulse, 0.1/Rev Pulse, 0.01/Rev Pulse. There is a controller (DX-4B) attached to this machine.
Recently, I have been facing an issue while changing the Selector Switch to 0.1/Rev Pulse & 0.01/Rev Pulse it doesn’t show the actual value on the display. It shows increments of 0.001 on both selections with each pulse.
I can share more photos or the manual of the machine if someone can help.
Although it appears to be malfunctioning at this time...
Could it be that you accessed a function which is built-in for use by technicians while servicing the unit, but which is not needed in daily use?
Do instructions tell you how to cancel this mode or enter a different mode? Or, can you remove power for 30 seconds, then plug the unit back in? That might resume its default mode.
Is it a selector error ? or a display error? I believe you meant display-only error. If so, how is data communicated with display? how may connectors / wires?

I haven't serviced the unit in years. So there isn't a possibility of tampering with the internal factory settings of either the display or the controller.
This issue has been coming since a week now. I opened the display unit after the issue was highlighted by the operator. I removed all the connectors, cleaned the board with isopropyl and installed it again but facing the same issue.

I am confused about the same and trying to rule out step by step whether it's a Manual Pulse Generator error, selector switch, servo motor, controller or display unit issue. Data is communicated by wires to the display. I have attached the photo of the selector switch. Blue wires go to the controller and the display unit.
It started a week ago. Not erratic. Just instant. There's no error on the controller. It would send out a red light if there was an error.
