I personally use at the moment this Linux https://fedoraproject.org/ - if your computer could run Windows then it good to go with it. Even you have a choice to run it from CD (so called LiveCD) just to test how it looks, thus you do not need to change OS on your computer hard drive.

Good luck .

Re: wanna learn linux

Get Knoppix(LiveCD) the best way to start learning linux without making a single change to your computer. Ubuntu also runs from the CD.

If you are a tech savvy guy then you can start with the overall architecture of linux from wikipedia articles. Things like how *nix treats everything as a file etc etc.

Once you stated playing with it, don't learn it like you have to as in a school course or something. Pick a specific task and learn how to do it(many ways) in Linux so it will be interesting and the experience will be first hand rather than following some blind instructions.

wanna learn linux

yes. live cd runs directly from CD-ROM. It doesn't need to be installed
