Need your help for detail or tutorial of laptop battery and its charger circuits, specially I am interested to know more about circiut which is usually inside battery pack! Is it charger or just protecter?
hai Johnson, The circuit inside the battery serves two purposes. One it monitors the battery temperature during charging and sends a signal to the micro controller based main charging system inside the Laptop to shutdown the charging process. Secondly it has an in built over load protector which protects the battery from dead shorts. This is because to protect the user too as the battery will be usally a Li ion which can deliver more ampheres that expected whcih may play havoc during any mishap. Hope this Helps....Good luck
- Is charger inside the battery or it is on the motherboard?
- I saw some people deattaching battery when they have access to power line! Is it helpful? What is the reason?
- Also I heared about resetting internall counter, which count the charge time! I mean it looks that internal timer of battery specify that it is out of date, and ignore recharging! then people try to reset the timer and reuse it!Is it correct?
Deattaching battery when they have access to power line.
A Li-Ion battery keped at full charge looses about 12-15% of its rated mAH capability each year. If keped at 50% charge it looses much less, about 4% each year.

The charger will be on the mother baord. the protector and the Eprom which counts the usage, will be inside the battery. Thus removing the battery when you have AC power will stop counting the battery life. But that will be counted in the mother board and will be updated the next time you insert the battery. Regarding resetting of the counter, i have no idea as i have not done it yet. You may get better replies from other friends.
I would like to ask my question again:
- Is internal structure of mobile batteries same as laptop battery? Can we expect same protection circuitry in mobile battrey?

Absolutely NO. The structure of the mobile batteries is totally different from those one in the Laptops. There are some mobile batteries which do offer protection against dead shorts. But 95% are without any protections. Shorting the teriminals will be too dangerous. Mobile batteries only come with a thermister in it which senses the battery surface temeperature and sends a signal to the charger chip inside the mobile to stop charging.
