Cat 5 cable

Can any one plz give me cat5 cable pin outs. Is there any special protocol asociated with the decices connected using the cat5 cable, or it's just like a piece of wire.

Can any one give me any links regarding the cat5 cable information

One of the usages of a CAT 5 cable is the Ethernet connection.
