At Hardware or Software level ?

1) if you are using senor that gives digital or contact output, you could use it to break supply of power stage, like is done in washing machines, in wich water valves are mounted in series with pressostat sensor.

2) If your system requires damping protection, you could use a led on-board to detect if the box was openned during operation.
